For Immediate Release – Aquatic Films Overview
Tim Taylor is an accomplished naturalist and explorer with over 25 years experience in the field. For recognition of his discovery of Sherwood Forest Reef tract in the Dry Tortugas Tim became a Fellow National in the Explorers Club in 2004. Sherwood Forest is considered the centerpiece of the Tortugas Ecological Reserve, the largest in the country, and one of the healthiest reefs in the Caribbean basin. He is currently President and CEO of Research Vessel Tiburon Inc., founder of Ocean Outreach Inc. - a non-profit ocean education and outreach organization, and partner in a marine imagery company - Aquatic Films.
Aquatic Films is a complimentary organization to the research expeditions of the RVTiburon,. Tim and the various individuals who share his passion for the ocean and commitment to its stewardship, have long recognized that imagery is a critical research tool for marine scientists. Still, video, and more recently high definition footage has been a standard part of the research support provided by RVTiburon, and now by AF. The content base for AF’s imagery is drawn from our research expeditions, and thus is focused on the marine environment and contains unique imagery, such as:
• Sherwood Forest – a mid-range, pristine “mushroom cap” formation coral reef discovered by Captain Taylor
• Pulley Ridge – the deepest (220+ft.) hermatapitic coral reef first filmed by Tim in 2005 in conjunction with Dr. Sylvia Earle of Sustainable Seas, and others
• Exumas, Bahamas – one of the few areas where stromatolites are still being formed
This content is also continuously added to as our research trips and activities evolve, taking us to new locations each year.
In addition, AF provides a range of customized filming services with the critical bonus of having a working platform – the R/V Tiburon - and experienced staff well versed in working in and understranding the marine environment. |
